Webmaster Search Engine: Advantages of Vertical Search Engines
For the past eight years, I’ve been a webmaster. As a result, I always have to stay up to date in the latest web trends and web applications available. Besides reading dozens of news and blog posts daily, I usually spend much of my time searching for the tools I need to develop websites. Google has been my top choice, and for many years, my only choice of search for my quest to find the tools I needed. However, with a new web application they recently built – Google Coop, I can now build my own search engine and limit the results to only the websites I choose. This is how I came to build WebmasterSE.com.
I’ve truly found that this search engine, specific only to Webmaster related content, is a great backup search engine. Although breaking the habit of using Google isn’t happening, I find myself going more and more to WebmasterSE.com when I fail to find what I was looking for, or when I still want to get more specific. With this vertical search engine I can even circumscribe results to a pool of sites that provide scripts. This label comes in handy. For example, if I am building a system for a restaurant website, I can just search for “restaurant”. I’ll receive only webmaster related activities revolving around restaurants. Furthermore, I can limit it to scripts related to restaurants.
I recommend Webmasters to make use of specialized SEs such as WebmasterSE.com, because they provide far more targeted resources than generic search engines. In my searches, I usually discover results that I wasn’t looking for, but that benefited me because of their association with my profession.
Targeted searches are definitely the way of the future. 30,000,000 search results are meaningless to me. Show me the top 3 pages. After that I don’t care.
